Delivering a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in Sturt

Delivering a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in Sturt

11 Apr 2025

A Liberal Government will establish a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in Sturt to relieve pressure on local hospitals and provide real access to bulk-billed urgent healthcare.

We know that residents of Sturt are struggling to find access to bulk billing doctors in Labor's primary care crisis. The GP bulk billing rate has dropped by 14.4% under Labor in Sturt, and there have been 312,051 fewer bulk billed GP visits under Labor in 2023-24 compared to the Liberal's last year in government.

This reduction in primary care access has serious implications for emergency departments, placing even further demand on already under pressure hospital systems.

Last financial year, the Royal Adelaide Hospital saw 20,435 presentations for semi-urgent and non-urgent care. Delivering a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in Sturt to provide access to healthcare close to home will take significant pressure off the RAH's resources, allowing it to operate more efficiently and effectively.

Only a Liberal Government will ensure Sturt gets the health infrastructure it desperately needs, easing pressure on families and local hospitals.
