I am pleased to announce that a Coalition Government will commit $3 million to fund the development of a state-of-the-art Junior Sports Hub in Ridge Park. This investment is a demonstration of the Coalition’s ongoing dedication to supporting local families, fostering young talent, and ensuring our community has access to top-quality sporting facilities.
Ridge Park has long been a centre for the local community, and this funding will help enhance its facilities and ensure that our junior athletes have the best possible opportunities to develop their skills and enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle.
This investment will contribute to the creation of a new community hub in the heart of the park, accommodating the Glen Osmond Scouts, community groups, family groups, spectators, sports clubs, junior sport changerooms and additional public toilets.
The investment will also contribute to the reconfiguring of the junior-size AFL oval for enhanced orientation and connection to the hub, the building of new spectator mounding for increased spectator viewing and the refurbishing of the park’s courts to accommodate a wide range of sports, including netball, basketball, junior hockey and tennis.
Sport plays a crucial role in building strong communities. It teaches teamwork, resilience, and discipline and provides a safe and healthy environment for young people to grow and thrive. By delivering this funding, we are not only investing in infrastructure but also in the future of our young athletes and the broader Sturt community.
A future Coalition Government will always back local communities, and this $3 million commitment for Ridge Park is a clear demonstration of that. I look forward to seeing this project come to life and to the many opportunities it will provide for young athletes in our community.
