ANZAC Day Schools' Awards Winners Showcase Creativity

ANZAC Day Schools' Awards Winners Showcase Creativity

21 Oct 2019

A Sturt school has been recognised in this year’s Anzac Day Schools’ Awards, with Kildare College taking out the ‘State Secondary School’ and ‘Best Use of Technology’ categories.

The awards encourage schools to learn about Australia’s military history and improve students’ understanding of the importance of commemorations such as Anzac Day and the role Australians have played in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations from the First World War to current conflicts.

These awards are an important way in which we educate the next generation on our military history and help them learn more about veterans and current serving members of the Australian Defence Force.

The competition encourages students and teachers to commemorate Anzac Day in their local community, and, schools can win up to $3000 for their efforts.

I offer my congratulations to students and teachers at Kildare College. The creativity and passion shown for our military history is outstanding and all involved should be proud of their efforts.

Entries for the Anzac Day Schools’ Awards are open to all Australian primary and secondary schools, with each school eligible to submit one entry. For more information on the Anzac Day Schools’ Awards and other educational material, visit The Anzac Portal.‌
