BOOSTING STURT’S GLOBAL DEFENCE EXPORTS

The Morrison Government has awarded a $150,000 funding boost to local small business looking to take on global markets, as part of a strategic approach to growing Australia’s defence exports.

Member for Sturt, James Stevens congratulated Fivecast on their Defence Global Competitiveness Grant, which will help them build their export capability and pursue new opportunities in overseas markets.

“The Morrison Government is supporting businesses in our defence industry to grow and increase their export capability,” Mr Stevens said.

“We know exporting businesses create more new jobs across Australia’s vital defence industry sector.

“By supporting businesses like Fivecast, we’re investing in more local jobs here in Sturt which is helping to create a stronger and more internationally competitive defence industry.”

This grant will assist the company to increase export opportunities for its risks and threat identification analytics software which uncovers threats to national security.

The Defence Global Competiveness Grants program are a key part of Australia’s Defence Export Strategy.

Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Melissa Price MP, said the Government wanted small businesses to be able to access the advice and support they need to help them grow their reach overseas.

“We established the Australian Defence Export Office to provide practical assistance to small businesses to help them become ‘export-ready’,” Minister Price said.

“These grants are another way we’re helping small businesses reach their export goals faster.”

Grants of $15,000 to $150,000 are available for eligible Australian businesses to invest in up to half of the cost of investing in projects which build Australia’s export capability.
