Commemorating Our Military Heroes

Local community and ex-service organisation groups in Sturt are set to receive a funding boost to remember our military heroes in their own unique way.

These groups are proud of our military history and this grant funding will enable them to commemorate military service in area in a respectful way.

This includes, for example Burnside Primary School who have received $1,291 for the installation of plaques and landscaping of an area to be dedicated to First World War service personnel who attended the school. Sturt Funding Recipients:

• Treenet Incorporated – $3,000 to enable the finalisation of Treenet’s website to include Avenues of Honour in Australia;
• Royal Australian Regiment Association (SA Branch) Inc. – $2,500 to enable the publication of a booklet by Fred Fairhead commemorating the Battle of Long Tan;
• Burnside Primary School – $1,291 to install plaques and landscape an area to be dedicated to First World War service personnel who attended the school.

Congratulations to the communities that will receive funding to deliver these projects which highlight the service and sacrifice of Australia’s service men and women in wars, conflicts and peace keeping operations.

The grants are part of more than $265,000 in Saluting Their Service grant funding being delivered to projects across Australia to commemorate Australia’s wartime heritage.
