Magill Road & Portrush Road Intersection Upgrade

$49 million has been committed through the Commonwealth Urban Congestion Fund to joint fund and deliver a widening of Portrush Road. This upgrade will deliver three lanes in both directions; installation of dual right turn lanes onto Magill Road travelling eastbound and westbound; and a widening of Magill Road (west side) to accommodate dual left turn lanes onto Portrush Road.
As work progresses at the Magill Road and Portrush Road intersection, we are edging closer to significantly easing traffic congestion. This upgrade will improve travel times and safety for all road users, improve network reliability and support economic activity.
Completion of this upgrade is expected in early 2022.
