Norwood Oval Carbon Neutral Project

A re-elected Morrison Government will provide $350,000 to the Norwood Football Club to install LED boundary lights in Coopers Stadium on The Parade, making them the first SANFL ground to do so.

Federal Member for Sturt, James Stevens, said these upgrades would not only help the Club with their carbon neutral target, but help provide for their electricity needs with future installation of solar panels and battery storage.

“With more and more people wanting to play community sport, its vital that we can ensure grounds are fit-for-purpose and accessible,” Mr Stevens said.

“This funding will improve the standard of the ground for SANFL, AFLW and other sport played at the venue, attracting more visitors to our great community.

“The Wolf Blass Community Centre has transformed the facilities for the club on The Parade, and these further developments take the venue to the next level.

“I’m very proud that Kent Town business VALO has installed this cutting edge capability and will also upgrade the ground’s lighting to an energy efficient LED system, meaning this commitment is not only good for the local sporting community, but also for small business and the local economy.

“I have been committed to delivering upgrades to local recreational and sporting facilities throughout Sturt over the past three years, having already secured major upgrades to the Max Amber Sportsfield, Hectorville Sports and Community Club, Old Collegians Rugby Club, Glenunga Tennis Club, Burnside Lacrosse Club, the ETKG Tennis, the Tusmore Park Wading Pool, Kensington Gardens Reserve clubrooms and the Athelstone Recreational Reserve.”
